If you ever lived in Boston in your 20's trying your best to make it on your own, staying at the Farrington Inn is like stepping into a time machine. Shared Bathrooms, strangely shaped bedrooms, and old architecture that makes you wonder what the place was like when it first opened. This is not the place to bring your wife and kids for a weekend in the city. This is the place you stay when you want to get away for a day or 2 to see a punk show and see a side of Boston they don't tell you about on the tourist sites. Super cheap too!

Hostel vibes except you have the room to yourself...house is older, rooms are simple, shared bathroom, but proximity to the airport is great and the rooms were clean. I needed a last minute place to stay when it was already after midnight, and I was able to still book online for a good price. I felt safe as a solo traveler.

Traveled for 2 nights to race at a track meet close by. The inn was perfect in terms of a great place to stay near the track while also being affordable. Obviously it isn’t some super fancy hotel, I wouldn’t pay to stay here if I was looking for that. It has its flaws but it was perfect for what I was looking for. We also got upgraded when we got there to have the private bath which was great. I had my doubts going in, but it was much better than I anticipated. I also would highly recommend the private bath room as it isn’t that much more expensive and was pretty well kept.

Stayed here in June 2024. Front office staff was decent, fair, and helpful. Able to use my mother’s credit card without a hassle. Which was great compared to the problem I had when I stayed at the DoubleTree near Tufts in October 2024. I digress, rooms are up to par. I found it to be economical for the length of stay. My stay was for a week! I found the decor to be beautiful and classic. I loved the wooden banisters and fin de siècle rugs. Reminded me of The Chelsea Hotel when I went to a salon in their lofts back in 2006. Great salon by the way! Once again, I digress. There was one little incident that I think the hotel should know about. My door did not lock that well. One night, a man tried to enter my room. I yelled at him and asked him why he was in my room! I did scream it at the top of my lungs! He immediately left. I didn’t call the police because I am an idiot! If I could make one suggestion it would be to improve the locks.

Superb location & deal - really close to BU and at the edge of Allston / close to West Cambridge, MA. *Think it's a great spot if you're visiting BU. Helpful & Efficient staff, studio style or more basic rooms available. Quieter neighborhood in Allston -- and can still easy access the night life and restaurants.

This is not a luxury hotel and one might even say it's a bit funky but I really enjoyed it. It was well priced and in a good neighborhood with a lot of good restaurants. The management was really helpful to me as a tourist. I would use this place again and recommend it others.

This place was great!! The staff was amazing! They let me keep my belongings there while I went to get more money for the next night. Most places wouldn't do that and I appreciate that so much especially with snow up to my knees in February. Even though I had a shared bathroom, I didn't mind at all. My room is huge on the third floor it was the top floor, and I had two king size beds a kitchenette a huge flat screen TV it was so awesome! We stayed there for about a week, and we didn't have to pay every night up front as we were homeless at the time, and we play music to get some extra money and we had some friends Western Union as well but the fact they let us leave our stuff there in the room or behind the counter was really awesome I will never forget that kindness. I would definitely stay there again.

They gave us a free upgrade the first night which was much appreciated. A smaller room the next night but I still enjoyed it. Yes it's an older building. But for me, that's one reason I like it. The buildings (we stayed in a different one both nights) have character you don't find in a typical chain hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful and you can't beat the location. I highly recommend it if you want something different.
